Two things stall a placement’s prints: not being an authorized applicant agency yet, and a form with the wrong ORI, applicant type, or mail code. We keep both from happening:

Where placement prints go wrong

The Costly Ways a Candidate’s Print Stalls

A rejected or misrouted print means a candidate cannot start and a placement slips. Each risk below names the rule and the consequence.

DOJ Agency Authorization Portal

Not an authorized applicant agency yet

Before an agency fingerprints under its own ORI, it must apply through the DOJ Agency Authorization Portal and be authorized by statute, which takes about four to six weeks. Sending candidates first means the prints cannot be submitted under your agency.

The ORI alone is not enough

A form with the wrong or missing applicant type or mail code gets results delayed, misrouted, or rejected, and the candidate often has to be re-printed and re-charged. We complete the agency block correctly for the role.

A care or security placement on the wrong form

Candidates placed into licensed care or BSIS security roles need that role’s specific form and ORI. A generic employment print does not satisfy the end-client’s requirement and the placement is held until it is redone.

Using the result before you may

California limits how and when criminal-history results are used in a hiring decision. Live Scan captures the print; it does not adjudicate, so your use of the result must follow Fair Chance rules and is separate from an FCRA consumer report.

Fingerscan Digital provides fingerprinting, not legal advice — confirm your authorized-applicant-agency status and the end-client’s required form. Live Scan is a DOJ and FBI fingerprint criminal-history check, which is distinct from an FCRA consumer-report background check.

A flat per-candidate rate that decreases as the count grows. The DOJ and FBI fee is passed through at cost and quoted at order, never marked up.

For onsite work, a dispatch fee plus the per-candidate rate, quoted by cohort size and travel distance anywhere in Northern California.

What Staffing and Recruiting Agencies Ask Us

To fingerprint candidates under your own ORI, your agency must first apply through the DOJ Agency Authorization Portal and be authorized by statute, which takes about four to six weeks to receive an ORI. If the end-client is the requesting agency, we capture under their ORI instead. We will tell you which path applies to a given placement so candidates are not sent before the routing is in place.
