Small Business Tax Preparation in San Jose for LLCs, S-Corps and the self-employed

Behind on bookkeeping, scared of an IRS penalty, or not sure your LLC filed the right California forms? We prepare your business return and your personal return together, so nothing falls between the two.

In short

Fingerscan Digital prepares Schedule C, single-member LLC, partnership (Form 1065), S corporation (Form 1120-S) and small C corporation (Form 1120) returns with the matching California forms. Self-employed income adds $175 to your personal return, partnership returns start at $395, S-Corp returns at $450 and C-Corp returns at $495. Prepared by Quinnie Do, CTEC ID A260452.

Where small businesses get hurt

The costly mistakes we help owners avoid

Missing the March 15 deadline

Partnership and S-Corp returns are due a month before personal returns. The IRS late-filing penalty is charged for every owner, every month. We file on time or file your extension.

Forgetting California’s LLC rules

California LLCs owe the $800 annual franchise tax and may owe an extra fee based on gross receipts. We prepare Form 568 and your payment vouchers so the FTB does not send penalties.

Paying self-employment tax on money you did not keep

Mileage, phone, home office, supplies and equipment. We go through your expenses so your Schedule C shows your real profit.

An S-Corp owner with no salary

The IRS expects S-Corp owners who work in the business to pay themselves a reasonable salary. We review owner pay and distributions before we file.

Quarterly payment surprises

If you skipped estimated payments, April can hurt. We calculate your quarterly estimates for next year so there is no surprise.

Contractors without 1099s

If you paid a contractor $2,000 or more during 2026 (the threshold rose from $600), you may need to issue a 1099-NEC by January 31. We prepare and file them for you.

Questions

Small business taxes, answered

How much does small business tax preparation cost in San Jose?
At Fingerscan Digital, self-employed income adds $175 to your personal return and a single-member LLC adds $225. Partnership returns start at $395, S-Corp returns at $450 and small C-Corp returns at $495, with California forms included. See the full tax preparation price list.
Do I need a CPA to do my LLC or S-Corp taxes?
No. Any paid preparer who is properly registered can prepare business returns. In California that means a CTEC Registered Tax Preparer, an enrolled agent, a CPA or an attorney. A registered preparer usually costs less for a small, owner-run business. If you face a complex audit, an enrolled agent, CPA or tax attorney can represent you.
When are business tax returns due?
For calendar-year businesses, partnership (Form 1065) and S-Corp (Form 1120-S) returns are due March 15. C-Corp returns (Form 1120) and Schedule C on your personal return are due April 15. An extension gives you more time to file, but not more time to pay.
My LLC made no money. Do I still have to file in California?
Generally yes. An LLC registered or doing business in California files Form 568 and pays the $800 annual franchise tax even in a year with no income.
My bookkeeping is behind. Can you still prepare my return?
Yes. Bring your bank and credit card statements and we will help you sort income and expenses. If your records need significant cleanup, we quote that in writing before we start.
Should my LLC be taxed as an S-Corp?
It can lower self-employment tax once your profit is high enough to pay yourself a reasonable salary, but it adds payroll and a separate return. We run the numbers for your business before you decide.
Can you file 1099s for my contractors?
Yes. We prepare and file 1099-NEC forms for $10 each. For payments made in 2026, the reporting threshold is $2,000 per contractor.
