A producer who is not licensed cannot transact, and a mistimed or rejected submission adds weeks to a start date. Each risk below names the rule and the consequence.
The license held up on a missing clearance
The Department of Insurance does not issue the license until the DOJ and FBI results post. Until then the producer cannot transact insurance, so a delayed or missing submission directly delays revenue.
Prints sent before the application, or expired
Prints are submitted after the license application is filed; sent early they do not attach. And if the license is not issued within 12 months of the fingerprint date, a new set is required — a stalled file means re-fingerprinting.
Reusing prints from another license
A new Live Scan must be completed specifically for the Department of Insurance. Prints rolled for another agency or license do not transfer, so an agent fingerprinted elsewhere still needs a CDI submission.
A print rejected for quality or wrong data
About two percent of prints are rejected for image quality, and a wrong-information entry requires a new paid transaction. A clean first capture with the producer’s details entered correctly avoids the restart.
