Do you work with organizations, or only individuals?
We work with employers and organizations — HR teams, compliance and credentialing managers, volunteer coordinators, and office managers who have a whole team to screen. We set up one organization account and bill net-30, so your staff and volunteers never pay at the counter or file reimbursements.
Our industry isn’t listed — can you still fingerprint our team?
Most likely, yes. If California requires a fingerprint Live Scan or FBI check for your role, we can run it — we just need the requesting agency’s ORI and the correct applicant type. Tell us your regulator or licensing board and we confirm the exact requirement before the visit.
How do we set up one billing account for our whole team?
Tell us your organization, industry, and applicant volume. We exchange a W-9 and a short services agreement and configure your ORI and net-30 billing, usually the same week. Applicants are then processed under the organization account with no counter payments.
Does a name-based background check satisfy AB 506?
No. AB 506, codified at Business and Professions Code §18975, requires a fingerprint-based Live Scan check under Penal Code §11105.3 for administrators, employees, and regular volunteers of youth-serving organizations. A name-only or database check does not meet the standard, and a Live Scan is not transferable between organizations.
Do FINRA-registered firms have a deadline to submit fingerprints?
Yes. Under FINRA Rule 1010, a member firm generally submits an applicant’s fingerprints within 30 days of filing Form U4, and SEC Exchange Act Rule 17f-2 requires fingerprinting of partners, directors, officers, and most employees unless an exemption is claimed. We process broker-dealer and financial-firm staff on a standing account so the filing window is easy to meet.
We’re an out-of-state employer hiring in California — what do we need?
California does not accept electronic Live Scan from outside the state, so out-of-state submissions use FD-258 ink cards, which we prepare and mail. For a remote California hire, the Form I-9 still requires in-person document review within three business days — and an ordinary notary cannot complete it unless they are also a bonded immigration consultant, which we are.
Do we need a Request for Live Scan form (BCIA 8016) for our team?
Yes. Each applicant is submitted on a Request for Live Scan Service form (BCIA 8016) that lists the requesting agency’s ORI and the correct applicant type. If your organization is registered with the DOJ as a requesting agency, we submit under your ORI; if not, we help you identify the right form and code so submissions aren’t rejected.
